Hi Y’all,
It’s WEEK 13 Y’all. We are half way there. Can you even believe it? It seems like someone just flipped a switch and we’re already running 10 and 15 miles. WHAT?!?
But first, a little iron
We’ve got a crew, as we speak, with feet on the crabby ground in Baltimore getting ready to do the IRONMAN. Everyone send enduring, happy, hydrated, strong thoughts to our Kaylin (#2), Terri (#4 I think), Terri’s husband’s Kyle’s (# millionth ?) and Rebecca Decker’s FIRST IRONMAN. Kind of makes our Saturday seem like a kids 1K. We’ll be tracking you and cheering you and awing all over you Saturday! GET IT, friends.
Good news, procrastinators
I didn’t get the email out yesterday to give you a final reminder to get your shirt orders….so they’re leaving it open until midnight tonight. SO…if you think you MIGHT want a shirt between now and next June…you better order one. We have big ambitions to place another order later…but you can see where ambitions got us…ordering in October 😐 Two things, make sure you are LOGGED IN to the PARR site and that you are NOT ON YOUR PHONE OR iPAD. This is for real the last warning…my head MIGHT spin off if someone asks Saturday.
Monster Dash
PARC is having their annual Monster Dash 5K/10K on Saturday Oct 21 – they offered up a discount for our group: PARR. A great local race to get your costume and your kids out there. Register here => https://thedriven.net/parc-
Saturday Details
I mentioned this a few weeks ago, in light of the safety focus. It was this time last year that one of our very new PARR members was out on a solo run over in Shadowcreek and was struck and killed in an intersection. Last year we all gathered that next weekend and ran a mile of silence (rather than just a moment). Right then, we decided we wanted this to be something we do every year. To remember Liz. To remember how fortunate we are that we are able to continue to run and that every single day is a gift.
For our run this weekend, we would like to do it again. All meet on Saturday at Turner at 5AM, where we can come together, both HM and FM, in our PARR orange (if you have some)…we all take to the track for a mile of silence to honor Liz. If you were planning to get done earlier, can you make your route come though Turner for 5AM to join us? Then as folks finish up their mile, they can take off to for the runs. The routes below are 14 ish and 9 ish. Please be extra cautious running out on Dixie Farm – I saw many folks on the street, the cars are not expecting you to be there. Please remove yourself from the street as cars approach. Lights are good and highly recommended, but not being an option for the cars is an even better plan. So please, please, please stay off the street when there are vehicles nearby.
FM – same route as week before last http://www.mapmyrun.com/
HM – an out an back to 518, maybe turnaround at the first entrance to Walmart, it’s a little long http://www.mapmyrun.com/
Water will be at the SE corner of Pearland Pkwy and Oiler Drive.
Hope to see you all on Saturday!
