WEEK 21 – Saturday – 12/10/16

Hi Y’all,

It’s getting real, y’all.  We are 38 days away!  THIRTY EIGHT. Are you kidding me?!?!  Wasn’t it like last night when I told you we were going to blow your mind by running SIX HILLS!?!  But the best part…WE ARE TWO WEEKS FROM THE TAPER. The absolute best part of the whole darn thing!  It’s when we’ve done all the work and get to ride that coaster downhill to the big day.  But first, we’ve got some work to do….I just wanted you to get a glimpse of what’s to come.

Standing O

Big cheers for PARR this past weekend!  RunGirl runners had some amazing runs.  Congratulations to all the ladies that had their race DEBUT! What a beautiful course to tell everyone I AM A RUNNER!  And huge congrats to those who rocked the San Antonio!  Up next…the troops are heading to College Station for the BCS Marathon. A lot of them.  Gig ‘em, friends.

Guest Speaker #2

Reminder that we’re having our 2nd Guest Speaker tomorrow evening at Wild Pear at 7PM – Dr. Eric Ramirez will be coming to present a soft tissue release class using RockBalls with specific movements to improve range of motion and reduce pain. During the class he will discuss common injuries experienced by runners and correlate the release techniques needed to maintain soft tissue function. At the end of the presentation he will also be available to answer questions about injuries, treatment options, etc. I know it was short notice, but volunteering is hard sometimes, y’all. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Jingle Bell Run – Please RSVP

We need to know if you’re coming!  We will have our 5th(?!?) Annual Jingle Bell Run on December 17 at 9AM-10AM! It’s a great time for everyone to bring out those families that we all hear about on the runs! It will take place at the front Pavilion at Centennial Park on McLean. We are still working out the details of the “what”…but will definitely have a short {Non-certified course} purely-for-fun run and some other games. But in order to get all that set up…we’ve set up an official RSVP on the website to help plan for the event (chocolate milk, prizes…that kind of stuff). If you could go register your little people, that will be a huge help. https://goparr.com/store/parr-events/jingle-bell-run-2016/ – there is no cost, just need your headcount! And a hint when registering…best to do on a computer, but also…you have to put a Quantity 0 for age groups you don’t have any of, rather than leaving blank.

This week

This is a big week.  HM is going beyond their race distance and DOING 14 MILES.  Woohoo…I promise it will make your race day better.  You’ll be stronger AND familiar with what that feels like.  Doing a further distance tricks your body into where it thinks it should be DONE.  And FM…26 MILES.  We run West side. We run East side. We run this town.  And we do it at a FM+2 pace 🙂  Starting at Wild Pear for both groups.

FM – 5:00AM – 26.1 miles (totally NOT a marathon)http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/938835603/

HM – 5:30AM – 14.1 miles (totally more than a half marathon)http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/938740773/

*Water will be at McLean for HM/FMx2 and in Green Tee for FM

I hope everyone has GREAT runs this weekend…whether you’re wearing a bib or not. Right this moment, I’m fixing to put lace up and run a miserable night long run…I’ll be the grumpy runner in Silverlake 🙂
