PLEASE READ: An Important Note to Our Members

PARR Members, please read below…

We received the email below from the Houston Marathon Committee after they received notice that some members may be trying to swap or trade bibs for the Houston Marathon and Half Marathon. For the record, we have never advocated or condoned the swapping and trading of bibs for any reason. It’s usually a rare instance and we didn’t feel the need to police this with our members and/or broadcast our disapproval to all members who do not engage in it. For future reference, we’ll remove any future postings on our Facebook page or the individual group pages regarding swapping or trading of bibs. Thank you for your understanding.

Good Afternoon,
It has come to our attention that there are PARR members attempting to see Chevron Houston Marathon and/or Aramco Houston Half Marathon bibs on your run club page. Please be advised that those actions are contrary to the stated policy of the Committee: If race organizers become aware that a runner has participated in one of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating in subsequent Houston Marathon events for a minimum of two years.

Our past races have been marred by numerous participants running under the guise of someone else’s race number. While this may seem harmless to the parties perpetrating the unauthorized bib transfer, it does convey serious consequences to the organizers and participant field alike.

From race results to finishers’ awards being impacted as well as medical staff being able to correctly identify participants in need of treatment, it is imperative that the registration data associated with your race number does in fact belong to you, the participant. If you know of anyone no longer able to run, please encourage them to defer their entry to 2020 in their participant account. For your convenience here is a link to a participant’s account: https://manage.hakuapp.com/login/houston_marathon.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Thank you,
Amanda Sandoval
