Saturday Run – 12/20/14

Hi y’all.

Lots of miles and miles this week.  (therefore, lots of exclamation points and capital letters) We’re ALMOST maxed out.  Can you believe there are only 2 more longest runs ever in your life?  And then….wait for it…taper time. That’s in 9 days! NINE. That’s less than 10, y’all. The very best part in all of the crazy training schedule.  So hang in there…do what you gotta do. It’s so worth it.

The schedule has FM doing 26 miles and HM doing 13.  These are long steady runs…typically at your FM or HM pace PLUS 1 minute.  No worrying about your pace, how long you stop…none of that.  Finishing and feeling good is what these runs are all about.  Our last run like this, I changed the screens on my watch so I couldn’t see my avg pace to make sure I just ran at the pace that felt easy…one of the best runs I’ve ever had.

If you’re thinking the schedule is more than you’re ready for…then definitely adjust to get the run YOU need in.  Look at the route and turn back sooner to get your needed miles.

And in case you haven’t looked ahead (really, who doesn’t look ahead?!?)  Next week is the BIG week…the week we’re to go BEYOND our race distance.  I can’t help but give my two cents on this one.  It’s a MENTAL run…it’s your body telling your mind WE CAN DO THIS…so that during the race your MIND can tell your body WE’VE ALREADY DONE THIS.  When I’ve done this run, it has been one of my favorite runs.  The pace is even easier than this week’s run.  I’m just saying this all now…so you have 9 days to think about it. I know I’m not able to change your mind 48 hours before we step off 😉

Lastly, you will be hearing from us SOON on the PARR end of season dinner!  Save the date…evening of January 10th! More details to come…

But for this week…this is what we got.  If you’re doing something different, just post it on FB in case someone else is thinking the same thing!
