Happy Holidays to our PARR Family!
Ready or not, the holidays are upon us. On behalf of all the PARR leaders, I want to wish everyone a joyous holiday season. If you’re driving/traveling during the Christmas break, please be safe and have a Merry Christmas.
We have one of our longest scheduled runs of the season for both the full marathon and half marathon group this Saturday. Try to find a friend to help you knock out this long run. If you are not running Saturday, remember to post on the PARR Facebook Group – you never know who may be looking for someone to run with. If the Chevron Houston Marathon or Aramco Half Marathon is your main race of the season, it’s time to start practicing your race day nutrition, hydration and weather plan (more on that below).
#PARRPajamaRun!!
This is becoming an annual thing for us at Christmas. Come run an easy 5K (or 5 miles, it’s your choice) in your jammies from the Stella Recycling Center THIS Friday December 20th @ 5am. Christmas PJ’s, lights, Santa/Elf hats, crazy socks/gloves, antlers???? Wear it all!!
We want ALL PACES to come out and join us!! This is an easy, conversational, FUN RUN!! (think spring time Social Run) The kind where there’s lots of smiles, laughter and chatter! (maybe even some holiday music!) In fact, I’d say that no Garmins are allowed, but that might freak some people out just a little too much, so I’ll leave it at that.

#PARRDidYouKnow???
We’re in Texas, y’all! And that means that the weather can change in a pretty MAJOR way from day to day. While the weather for Saturday’s run was picture perfect, Sunday was a completely different story. And we had lots of members racing Sunday. Galveston Santa Hustle? HOT! Sugar Land 30K? HOT HOT! Dallas Half Marathon? HOT HOT HOT!
Just a reminder, when temps are over about 65 degrees, PLEASE consider heat adjusting, not to mention extra hydration. Race day COULD be in the 30s, but we’ve also seen highs in the 80s. Yes, in January. Please don’t try to be a hero – we need you to cross that finish line… healthy!
If you have questions about how to heat adjust, please reach out to your pace group leader. Kaylin is also an excellent resource.
#PARRty
One of our favorite things, besides all the miles, is our end of the season celebration! We’re changing it up this year! You MUST REGISTER – the date is FRIDAY, JANUARY 10, 2020.
And we have a NEW LOCATION (well, new to US) and the PARRty will be at GolfCrest Country Club (yes, in Green Tee in the middle of Pearland!)
Even if you are a registered PARR Member, and even though it’s FREE for you to attend, you MUST REGISTER!!! You can bring 1 guest and the cost for guests is $15.00. This year includes a CASH BAR.
Register HERE: PARR-ty Registration
Again, you MUST let us know you are coming (the earlier the better) and registration WILL close on December 30th as we have to give our FINAL HEADCOUNT to the venue in advance. If you have not registered (even if you are a member), you will NOT be let in at the door. Sorry!!! You MUST register in advance.
Hope you all have a happy holiday season!
Andrea
