Saturday Run – 10/04/14 Long Steady Run

Hi y’all,

On deck this week…Long Steady Run.  Woohoo.  Run will be at your LR pace https://goparr.com/training-paces/   + *heat adjustment if necessary.  *Heat adjustment is calculated by adding 15-20 seconds for every 5 degrees that the temperature exceeds 60 degrees.  So, just for fun, let’s use this morning as an example – an 80 degree morning (with the humidity it felt exactly like 98.6 degrees), you’d slow down your pace by about 1 min/mile. Hopefully that cool front brings some relief and a GREAT run for everyone on Saturday. And for those of us that have to do the run a day or two early…Murphy’s law. Cool front will roll in as soon as we’re done.

Small tweak again this week for the FM-TB people, just to better match up with last week and what FM is doing, since this is a new program, we’ll kind of modify as we need to…I’ve updated the schedule and uploaded it up to the site, so you can get that here https://goparr.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/2014_PARR_Training_Plans_v2_AG.pdf

Plan is to meet at PJHS/Turner High School Track on Saturday.  Run up McClean and Left on Magnolia, turn around at the midpoint of your run and come back.  If you’re that fast and run out of road near 288, turn right at the Chevron on CR 94 and turnaround at your midpoint .FM 518 is 7.6 miles, so that should give all enough road! If it doesn’t, you need to slow the heck down and stop showing off 🙂

FM / FM-TB – leave at 5:30, 140 minute Long Steady Run HM – leave at 6:10, 100 minute Long Steady Run Water will be at FM 1128. No core this week.  That’s where the 20 min extra sleep came from 🙂

A couple of additional things: Next race coming up is the Space City 10 miler – Sunday October 12!  Make sure you RSVP here: https://goparr.com/events/2014/10/space-city-10-miler/  – this just lets everyone know to look for you and cheer for you!

A little long-distance cheering on deck for this SUNDAY – Ric, fondly referred to as Father Road Runner around here, will be running the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis.  While we’ve been busting it, trying to get our mileage in…he’s been easily doubling or tripling what we’ve done in our sleep! RUN FAST. RUN STRONG. RUN HAPPY.

Lastly, the PARC Monster Dash is on Oct 26 and they are looking for volunteers.  Please contact Karen Montijo at 713-213-3920 if you are able to help out.  She said a student or scout can earn up to four hours of volunteer time needed for HS graduation.

Happy run y’all.
