WEEK 15 – Saturday 10/21/17 – If not racing, easy runs

Hi Y’all,

It’s hard to believe, or maybe not so much, we had to wait until the middle of October to be finally greeted with some cooler temperatures for our fall season.  I hope you all were able to get in a few enjoyable runs this week.  The end of October seems to be the beginning of racing season for our PARR members.  We have PARR members participating in various races and relays this weekend.  The annual PARC Monster Dash is a great local race and always seems to be popular with our members.  Some of our members are going to the coast to run in the Toughest Galveston 10k.  Furthermore, we have several teams competing in the Ragnar Relays outside of Austin and several members participating on a relay team in the Capital to the Coast (Austin to Corpus Christi) relay.   Good luck to all of our racers, please stay safe and have a great race.

All of these races may mean a low attendance on weekly Saturday long run but please don’t be undeterred from showing up.  A fellow PARR member may appreciate your company to help him/her complete their long run.  I will be present to run with the blue group.

This Saturday’s schedule calls for an EASY (FM + 1:30-2 min pace) 15 miles for the FM and 11 miles for the HM.  We put in this easy run because we realize many members may be racing the Houston Half Marathon and 10k races next Saturday.  For some of our half marathoners, this may be your final long, prep run before your Half Marathon next week so please take it easy and enjoy the run.

We’re going to start our long runs from Turner High School this Saturday, 5 a.m. for the FM and 5:30 for the HM.   Stay safe, well-lit and see you on the road.
