WEEK 16 – Saturday – 10/28/17 – Wild Pear

HAPPY FALL Y’ALL!

Finally! Some of those dreamy fall temps. All you folks running the Houston Half Marathon on Sunday have no idea the jackpot you have hit. My Facebook Memories of this race have been popping up all week and historically it has been pretty miserable conditions…that I might have referred to more than once as the “worst day of my entire life.” But not this weekend, man. Y’all are in for a TREAT on Sunday! Best of luck for the first timers! And here’s to a day full of PRs for everyone!

And those of us cheapskates that are not running this weekend, we get killer temps tomorrow morning too. This is a good time to test what your clothing threshold is for certain temps so you know for race day. Everyone is different, but it’s good to make a note what the temps is, what you wear and your general happiness level 🙂 Because I guarantee you that you won’t remember if 46 degrees is a glove day, a long-sleeve day, a pants day or not the next time it rolls around! Just like your nutrition, these training runs are all dress rehearsals for your race. Figuring out what works and what doesn’t is just as important as the mileage. Testing things out on race day…NO BUENO.

We’re really getting to the good stuff, folks. The long mileage, the unmatched endorphins of a good long run, longest runs ever for our new members…good, good stuff. My favorite part about this route for FM folks is it give your fam an idea of just how far you ran…you can tell them that you ran out around the rig and back. THAT IS A LONG FREAKING WAY.

We will meet at Wild Pear on Saturday:

FM – 5:00AM – 16 easy  miles – http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/946981553/

HM – 5:45AM – 9 easy miles – http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/1838505746/

*Water will be at Harkey, on the southwest corner

Happy Runs 🙂
