WEEK 18 – Saturday Run Details + STUFF

Hi Y’all,

Another GREAT weekend for a run…at the PERFECT distance 🙂 But first…a few things.  Pretty please, read to the end. I’ll try to leave out extra words. Just kidding.

Good luck to those running the final Bridge Series Race!  It’s a doozy, but {in my opinion} easier than the first two!  And the weather is going to be DREAMY!  Can’t wait to see y’all paint that big ol bridge ORANGE!  Goal: Get in their printed materials. More than once. 🙂

Jingle Bell Run – Please RSVP!

We will have our 5th(?!?) Annual Jingle Bell Run on Saturday December 17 at 9AM-10AM! It’s a great time for everyone to bring out those families that we all hear about on the runs! It will take place at the front Pavillion at Centennial Park on McLean. We are still working out the details of the “what”…but will definitely have a short {Non-certified course} purely-for-fun run and some other games. But in order to get all that set up…we’ve set up an official RSVP on the website to help plan for the event. If you could go register your people, that will be a huge help. https://goparr.com/product/jingle-bell-run-2016/  – there is no cost, just need your headcount!

#PARRty – Grab your Sharpie

The End of the Year Party {affectionately called “The Running Prom”} is scheduled for SATURDAY evening January 7th. Write it in your calendar in SHARPIES, my friends. It is such a fun night…dinner, drinks, a look back at our season… FUN! Again…working on the details, so stay tuned for more…

Saturday Morning Details

We are going to ALL meet at Wild Pear at 5:30AM on Saturday.  Lisa Sanchez has kept in touch with Liz Perez’s brother since her services and he asked if their mom could have a chance to come say hello to our group.  And she was even willing to come at 5:30AM, knowing that the start of our runs is the best time to get the most runners.  So please get there a smidge early and proud in your ORANGE so we can give her a warm PARR welcome before we all take off.

Full Marathon – 5:30AM – 18 Miles – FAST FINISH, with those last two miles at FM pace http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/923289669/

Half Marathon – 5:30AM – 9 Miles – FAST FINISH, with those last two miles at FM pace  http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/1361862862/  – turnaround at Recycling Center

*water will be at the Recycling Center parking lot

Wild Pear Night + Guest Speaker

{kinda stealing from my email earlier this week}

Because we’re all about the fun AND we love to learn new stuff and have our people come speak…BUT it’s just too difficult to try to coordinate something after a run. I mean seriously, with approximately 304 different end times on these long runs, that math is just too high for me! So we’re going to try a little something different! We’re combining all the goodness into a couple of hours!

Join us Saturday EVENING, Y’ALL. That’s 6PM – 8PM this Saturday, November 19th at Wild Pear. We’ll kick off at 6PM with our first guest speaker! Physical Therapist Brian Ranney, PT, OCS, CSCS at Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic will talk about the importance of hip/glute strength for runners and potential injuries that can stem from gluteal weakness. He will also give a demonstration of a few of the best exercises to help reduce the risk of injury. And you thought buns of steel was just a VHS tape from 1994… No, seriously…Brian’s understanding of runners (physically because it’s what he does for a living!) and mentally (because he’s married to one…and we all know we’re a bit nuts!)…makes him an absolute resource for us.

ALSO….for a little pre-holiday shopping treat at Wild Pear. David is giving PARR a secret sale, meaning he’s giving us the deals before anyone else with 15% OFF shoes, 20% OFF accessories and 40% OFF apparel! He’s also super fly and securing some fun giveaways…LIKE SHOES. GIVING AWAY SHOES.. Ffrom the sounds of it…you don’t wanna miss out!

We’ll have some festive drinks and snacks too…because, duh…long run’s done! So what I need you to do is jump on over to my Facebook page and just let me know on the event that I posted https://www.facebook.com/events/1763957103868493/ that you’re coming, just so we have an idea of how many think they’ll make it. And if you’re not on Facebook, just reply here with a yay. This is just so we have a ballpark idea on headcount!

I know the date and time didn’t work for some of y’all…so we’ll try to capture a video and post. And if the evening gig works out, we’ve got two other speakers we’ve lined up to come do the same.

Please let me know if you have any questions! Happy Runs Y’all.
