Week 10 – Saturday, September 28, 2019

Hey there, friends! Andrea here. I hope this finds you healthy and your training going great. Can anyone tell me where in heck is our first cool front?!?!?

Week 10 – WOW! We’re into the double digits in weeks of training now. For some, the training begins to feel a little grueling in terms of distance and time. Others may be nursing some aches and pains. Just know there’s still PLENTY of training to go around (16 weeks to be exact!), so listen to your body. Running on tired legs is a part of training and fine as long as you are mindful of form. Nobody should run through PAIN. “When in doubt, chicken out” and rest as needed. Resting for one or two weeks won’t jeopardize your race, but training through an injury could sideline you for many more weeks.

Before we get into the details of this week’s run, I want to remind everyone about a special event TONIGHT at Wild Pear. Join us at 7 p.m. for “Why We Run.” We’re getting up close and personal with a few of our very own PARR members! As you know, we have some pretty AMAZING people with great stories in this group! Do you know who has run a marathon in every state? Or who regularly runs a marathon EVERY WEEKEND? Or who overcame a tremendous 100+ lb weight loss and now runs with us? Or who has overcome (and still battles) major health issues, but gets out and joins us for runs? Meet these people and hear their stories! And, come share YOURS!!! We’d love to hear it. If your story motivates just ONE PERSON to be a little more dedicated, disciplined or grateful to be able to run, it was well worth sharing!

#PARRSaturdayRun – 9/28/2019, Turner

I know how much you full marathoners are missing the Bailey Bridge, so we’re back at Turner this week for some slightly different scenery.

FM – 5:00 AM –MARATHON PACE RUN: 13 Miles 3 miles easy, 50 minutes at marathon pace, finish remaining miles at easy pace. The schedule states 50 minutes and this may be overly ambitious for some, so please feel free to adjust it to something you can comfortably achieve. The goal is to get you acclimated to running at your FM pace. Feel free to break it out into two 25-minute sessions with a break in between or cut it shorter. It’s your run.
