WEEK 2 – 07/30/16 – More HILLS

Hi Y’all,

Hope everyone is having a great week swimming…I mean running. The humidity will make us stronger…if it doesn’t kill us, right?!?

New to PARR and wonder WHAT IN THE HECK WE’VE SAID AND DONE and what you missed? For a recap, read THIS FIRST, then THIS.

I’ve been updating everyone’s Magic Mile time. If you did on your own…please email it to me. Thank you to the swarms of folks that emailed them to me already. We are working to get the pace groups together in the coming weeks and want to make sure we get everyone connected to the appropriate groups. After our several years of doing this, we know that the best way to ensure success is to GET FOLKS CONNECTED! So…plan to get bugged if I haven’t heard from you 🙂 If you need to run yours this weekend, let me know so we can plan to have someone there…otherwise you’re on your own to time and cheer yourself on!

We created a THIS WEEK page in the Member’s Area that has the week’s schedule. Maybe a good one to bookmark on your phone to have easy access to? This is straight off the schedule, but hopefully useful on the go. Don’t forget to utilize the TRAINING PACES page to know what your paces should be for these runs. These paces are based on your Magic Mile.

First Race of the Season

I mentioned this at our Season Kick-off, but wanted to send out all of the details. The charitable stuff that we’ve done has become some of THE BEST highlights the past few seasons. We have kept our focus on local, Pearland organizations and families. Our first this season will be the Chance for Hope GO GOLD Fun Run that will be held on September 10 right here in Silverlake. September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and gold is the national color for childhood cancer. Through the Chance for Hope Go Gold Fun Run, the Foundation’s awareness event, they will remember the many children who have been taken too soon, and extend their support to all those who continue to battle this illness with incredible strength and courage. A little background, the Chance for Hope Foundation was founded by Andrea Davidson, who is also a PARR member, so a great opportunity to support one of our own. Their efforts provide funding for pediatric cancer research, meals to inpatient cancer families and unbelievably…FREE temporary housing for patients and their families in the Texas Medical Center in their Chance for Hope Residences.

For these local races, we will make sure that the race can be incorporated into your scheduled run where you can run a little more (if needed) beforehand and end it with a race. This race is a 10K Run / 5K Run or walk. All ages are welcome and they’d love for the whole family to participate. After the races, they will also have an Kids Area with fun activities for the whole family as well as a raffle for race participants! ,So now go do what PARR does best…SHOW UP BIG…you can REGISTER HERE for this race
