WEEK 5 – Saturday – 08/20/16 – Swapping Hills

Hi Y’all,

Sorry for the Friday email… just remember…it will ALWAYS be EARLY and SATURDAY mornings…and I get ’til Friday at 3PM before official freak-out can happen. If you need earlier…don’t forget to check out THIS WEEK page on the website…Andrea’s been doing an awesome job updating this by Sunday for what’s coming up for the week. We will update the start location/times for the upcoming weekend as soon as we know those details to satisfy the needs of “specifics” for everyone needing to know before I can get the email out. BUT…please still refer the weekly email as the final answer. Things change, people change 🙂

If you’re new to PARR and wanna catch up or can’t remember what we said earlier? You can always see the PAST EMAILS that were sent out.

Groups…settling in

WOWZA. I’m not gonna lie, the groups were a little more difficult to create this year. You can see from the distribution that the groups are not even. Not even close! Well, they were…then a request or two came in and folks changed groups 🙂 We’ll be getting the group leaders set this week, now that everyone is settled. I know there is some anxiety from both sides (leaders and runners)…but we’ve done this for five years now, and know the importance of getting everyone in the right pace groups. Otherwise, getting connected is even more difficult! We want to set you up for A GREAT SEASON! Also…please know if in the next few weeks you realize you were placed in the wrong group, or more likely…you placed yourself in the wrong group 😉 …IT IS TOTALLY FINE TO CHANGE! Training at the right pace for YOU is so important. Just keep me posted so we don’t lose track of you!

But wait…what are THEY DOING?

“The schedule says 9 hills at 5:30AM and I am driving to meet everyone and I see people out there already doing hills and still running when I’m done? WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HECK?” With almost 300 of us, there are so many different things that people are training for. Might be an upcoming race. Might be that they are following a their own schedule. Might be that they are at a different level. BUT….not for any of us to fret over! If you’re not doing that and you’re just trying to keep up with half of what the schedule is recommending…THAT IS JUST FINE. Just do your thing. Whether you’re #PARRrogue or #PARRkinda or #PARRstrict…we are #allPARR…a now, giant, supportive running community!

#PARRswag

We received the awesome PARR Magnets and Stickers and will have those to hand out for anyone who didn’t get one! If you don’t get one this weekend, we’ll have them next weekend and forever after that! AND SHIRTS…we’ll be adding those to the website in the next few days so you can place your order! We’ll leave that order open for about a week, so get ready to be nagged about getting your order in before we place the big order!

Saturday Details…Read ‘Em Please

So…HILLS. We got two more weeks of hills, y’all! A REMINDER: these runs are done on TIME, not distance…so they are designed for everyone to get back after their designated minutes, with both FM and HM ending at about the same time (high math y’all, high math). My slow minutes are the same minutes as the fastest person’s in the group and the slowest person in the group. But what is different is the speed in which we all run the hills. That is something we can’t predict and we depend on everyone to adjust their warm up to leave enough time to get their hills in…and get back to the track for CORE …CORE WILL START AT 7:15AM on Saturday. Bring your towel or mat!

For the next two weeks, we are going to swap out the hills…with the FM heading to Bailey Bridge and HM heading over to Magnolia Bridge. I’m adding a little bit of padding for everyone to collect themselves, a bit more this week for HM since it’s the first time they are going to Magnolia. Bear with us. THERE ARE A LOT OF US. And you’ll notice tomorrow, if you haven’t already…two bridges are not created equal!

FM: Depart Turner High School at 5:30AM for 100 minutes and 10 HILLS. You’ll do a warm up to your liking, and then head to the BAILEY BRIDGE. You’ll do 10 HILLS. IT’S YOUR BRIDGE. Then do a cooldown and you should be back to Turner at 7:10AM

HM: Depart Turner High School at 5:50AM for 70 minutes and 7 HILLS. You’ll run behind Turner to Veterans up to Magnolia and turn RIGHT. The MAGNOLIA BRIDGE is where you will do your 7 HILLS. IT’S YOUR BRIDGE. do your hills here, then a cool down and should be back at the track at 7:00AM.

Do you ever wonder if I run out of things to say?!?! Apparently, I do not. All week…different questions, texts, emails, FB posts, FB messages, conversations on the run, conversations at Target…questions come up, ideas and new people join. So it all kind of comes to a head when I start to write a quick email with the plan for Saturday! And you have to suffer through me getting it all out!

I hope everyone has a great run this week! Please let me know if you have any questions!
