Saturday Run – 08/22/15

Hi Y’all,

Sorry for the Friday email…you know if you get this on Friday, that something didn’t go down the way it was supposed to earlier in the week! Just remember…it will ALWAYS be EARLY and SATURDAY mornings…and I get ’til Friday at 3PM before official complaining may commence.  If you need earlier…don’t forget to check out THIS WEEK page on the website…I’m trying to update this by Sunday with the start location/times for the upcoming weekend to satisfy the needs of “specifics”  for everyone needing to know before I can get the email out. BUT…please still refer the weekly email as the final answer. Things change, people change 🙂

Saturday Details…Read ‘Em
So…HILLS. We got two more weeks of hills, y’all. We tried something different last week to ease the congestion…got lots of positive feedback…and some people who would still like to try another solution. So we are trying something else this week. Bear with us. THERE ARE A LOT OF US.

One thing mentioned was that CORE was started before everyone got back last week. These runs are done on time, not distance…so they are designed for everyone to get back after their designated minutes, with both FM and HM ending at the same time (high math y’all, high math). My slow minutes are the same minutes as the fastest person’s in the group and the slowest person in the group. But what is different is the speed in which we all run the hills. That is something we can’t predict and we depend on everyone to adjust their warm up to leave enough time to get their hills in…and get back to the track for CORE at the designated time. I’m adding a little bit of padding for everyone to collect themselves…so CORE WILL START AT 7:15AM on Saturday.

Here is the plan for tomorrow morning:

FM: Depart Turner High School at 5:30AM for 100 minutes and 10 HILLS. You’ll run behind turner to McClean up to Magnolia and turn RIGHT. The MAGNOLIA BRIDGE is where you will do your 10 HILLS. IT’S YOUR BRIDGE. Then do a cooldown and you should be back to Turner at 7:10AM

HM: Depart Turner High School at 5:50AM for 70 minutes and 7 HILLS. You’ll do a warm up to your liking, and then head to the BAILEY BRIDGE. You’ll do your hills here, then a cooldown and should be back at the track at 7:00AM.

A little help from our friends
Since the beginning of PARR, we’ve had pretty much the same two awesome people getting up earlier than any of us…to set out ice cold water. Then staying later than any of us…to collect the jugs. With as big as the group has gotten, we are now to the point that we need to get them some help…and relief from having to do every single weekend! Jack and Travis are looking for 4-5 people to get into a rotation to help out with this. Travis posted on FB…so head over there and let him know if you are willing to help out.

We so fancy
Us girls love us some fancy running clothes, which to some of us are “dress clothes.” So this is fun, Athleta in Rice Village (2512 University Blvd, Houston, TX 77005) is offering PARR a shopping event with drawings AND a 25% discount on Sunday, 8/23 11A-1P, with a free Yoga Class before that at 10AM…but it gets better. I told them that it will be hard to find a time that would be best for our group (165 ladies up in here!)…so she extended it to be 8/20-8/24 (yes, 8/20 was yesterday…but it was late yesterday evening when we finally got all the details hashed out…hence, the email not sent yet. No…I had not forgot to send it!) Lastly…she also said they would take phone orders w/free shipping during the same time. WHAT?!? They just ask that you call the store to reserve your invite/discount at 713-942-2190 and I think they have us as Pearland Area Road Runners…meaning they may not know PARR if you say it! So cool…and big thanks to Kasey…who happened to m ention PARR when she was in there shopping and hooked me up with their people to get this set up. Here is the flyer if you like something official and papery: Athleta-PARR

Lots of info…so please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email if you have any questions.
